Sustainability plays an important role in the activities of Homeless Child, first of all of course by supporting the children, not only here and now, but also with their future in mind. This way they can eventually contribute to the prosperity of their country and to the well-being of the world.
It is also essential for Homeless Child to involve the local population and the government in the support. While financial means for support especially come from wealthy countries, the local people have the final say in the practical implementation of a project.
Project collaborators, such as teachers, cooks and psychologists,come from Honduras, in order to offer opportunities to the local population as well as to the children. Furthermore, the involvement of the local population contributes to the awareness of the children’s situation, so they are no longer avoided and can acquire their place in society more easily.
Finally, Homeless Child stimulates an increasing support from the local population and the government by offering ‘matching grants’. With this, we would like to encourage an increased awareness of the children’s situation on a local and national level, as well as an increased sense of responsibility.
