What we do

P1080263Homeless Child wants to contribute to restore some balance in the world by committing itself to underprivileged children in Honduras. Our foundation raises funds for local development projects in Honduras and gives information sessions in schools in the Netherlands.
The Homeless Child Foundation has been active in El Progreso, Honduras since its foundation in 2002, with the slogan “Give a child a chance, bring balance to the world”.
To its satisfaction, the foundation can report sustainable growth. In El Progreso, Homeless Child already offers sustainable support to three organizations. The organizations that Homeless Child supports are fitted to the core values of the foundation: integral support and sustainability.

  • Integral support: Homeless Child supports projects in Honduras that together give shelter to a large group of children with different backgrounds and problems. There is not only room for undernourished babies, but also for orphans, street children and children addicted to drugs. There are children of both sexes and all ages, regardless of their religious, ethnic or social background.
  • Sustainability: By supporting the children, not only here and now, but also with their future in mind. It is also essential for Homeless Child to involve the local population and the government in the support. While financial means for support especially come from wealthy countries, the local people have the final say in the practical implementation of a project.

Ever since its foundation in 2002, the team members cover all expenses of Homeless Child. 95% of all contributions is spent in Honduras. A maximum of 5% of all contributions can be used to cover part of the expenses. The founder of Homeless Child annually works three to four months in Honduras and several members of the board have work visits regularly. This way we have a clear view on all expenses made.
When projects are done with one of our partners, extensive evaluation is compulsory, making measurement of results necessary. For instance, Homeless Child is working on the implementation of evaluations in order to measure results more efficiently.
