Charles was born in Utrecht the 2nd December 1943, which is where he got his pharmacy degree 30 years later.  He now lives in the east of the country, where he has owned a pharmacy for three decades.  He is the divorced father of two sons.

Since Charles retired in late 2005, he likes to divide his time between his dog Gijs, his boat MIHI  IPSI, cooking, wine and his garden.  Together with his work as a pharmacist, Charles has gained a great deal of experience in various administrative jobs.  Some of these are:

Health care system board member

Contract negotiator for pharmacists in Eastern Holland

President of automated Dutch pharmacists

President of a Dutch association of pharmacists

Member of COGEBA legal branch

Board member of KNMP (national association for pharmacists)

Currently he is still active as:

President of the KNMP financial commission

President of CHA (association for pharmacy subscription declarations)

Member of COGEBA legal branch

In his spare time, Charles has been an active member of Round Table Netherlands and he has been thoroughly engaged in various charity activities.  Nowadays, he especially concentrates on charities within his Rotary club and within Homeless Child.  Charles knows that 100% of goods and funds collected for Homeless Child are used where they are most needed.

Bas Wiersma’s way of communicating and representing the Homeless Child foundation as an unpaid director, have so much inspired Charles that he didn’t need to think twice when he was asked to be their president.
